Joey Shue, Fire/Rescue coordinator for Central Carolina Community College's Emergency Services Training Center, in Sanford, and the ESTC have been honored with the Training Prop of the Year Award from the North Carolina Society of Fire Rescue Instructors. Shue was instrumental in arranging the donation of a train tanker car and a track for it to the ESTC. Lee County Office of Emergency Management assisted in getting a $6,000 Homeland Security grant to move the tanker from downtown Sanford to the ESTC. The tanker car will be used to simulate tanker car-vehicle accidents and other scenarios for training fire fighters, police, and emergency services workers.
