SANFORD - Central Carolina Community College's Jackson Reid, Demetrius Everett, and Rodney Alston have received National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region X honors
Reid, who came to CCCC from Panther Creek High School in Wake County, was named Region X Player of the Year. He also was named to the All-Region X Team and All-Region X Freshman Team. He averaged 15.9 points per game.
"Jackson is an outstanding young man, with qualities that will propel him forward with a basketball career," said CCCC Coach Brad McDougald. "This accomplishment is the first in school history, and I'm proud to have been a part and able to help him through this season. I look for big things in the near future for Jackson."
Everett, who came to CCCC from Wake Forest High School, was named to the All-Region X Team. He averaged 8.1 points per game.
"He has been the floor general for this team all season. Demetrius is a solid point guard who understands tempo and how to direct his teammates as leaders do. It has been a pleasure to coach Demetrius, and I look forward to watching him continue his playing career next season. He has a bright future, and I look forward to following him and supporting him," said Coach McDougald.
Alston, who came to CCCC from Rocky Mount High School, was named to the Region X All-Freshman Team. He averaged 11.6 points per game.
"Rodney is an outstanding offensive player, who can score in many ways. His shooting ability is second to none, and I look forward to helping him grow and continue his path with school and basketball. Rodney will be a returning player next year," said Coach McDougald.
