SANFORD - Central Carolina Community College begins the 2022 season with a new coach - Dal Langston.

"This will be a year of everyone getting to know the new coach," said Coach Langston.

Prior to joining CCCC, Coach Langston served as Fayetteville Technical Community College assistant coach since the school's inaugural volleyball season in 2018.

Coach Langston served three years as volleyball coach at Chatham Central High School. His Chatham Central team's won two conference championships and one conference runner-up - and he received two Conference Coach of the Year awards.

He has coached club team volleyball, including time with the Sandhills Volleyball Club, Brick City Volleyball and L2 Volleyball. His teams won various tournaments - and was a National Qualifier in 2014 and qualified twice for the Girls Junior Nationals.

Coach Langston said of the 2022 CCCC team: "We have five returners and five new players who are all learning my coaching style and I am learning what their strengths are and their personalities. So far, I have found they are great people who are committed to learning and getting better."

Coach Langston has five returning athletes (with high school and hometown listed) - Felisha Chavez (Montview H.S., Denver, Colo.), Alexis McDougald (Pine Forest H.S., Cameron), Halan Raynor (Calvary Christian Academy, Coats), Anna Smith (Marlboro Academy, Rockingham), and Tessa Wisniewski (Highlands School, Elizabethtown).

New members of this year's CCCC volleyball squad, including name, high school and hometown, are: Natalia Brocious (Cape Fear Christian Academy, Lillington), Karli Bullard (Grace Christian School, Sanford), Zoey Hodges (Lee Christian School, Sanford), Kammi Naude (Gray's Creek HS, Hope Mills), and Anna Strickland (Grace Christian School, Sanford).

"This year will be successful if we can hold our own in the conference. Since I have not seen the competition, it's hard for me to know where we are," said Coach Langston. "We may just be better than we think. One of our strengths is that we are very athletic.

"One thing is for sure -- we will give 100% every point, we will play every point like it is our last one and we will not back down from any opponent. We will play fearless."
