PITTSBORO - Since 2001, Pittsboro Area Health Initiatives has donated $133,000 to the Central Carolina Community College Foundation to support scholarships and other programs of the college.
Most recently, the PAHI donated $50,718 to fund scholarships for students enrolled in medical programs taught through the college's Continuing Education Division. PAHI Vice President Barbara Jones said those programs have had a positive impact on the health of the residents of Chatham County.
The PAHI also donated $35,000 to help build the Chatham Walking Trail located on the college's Chatham County Campus.
The Pittsboro Area Health Initiatives is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization. It was founded in 1978 to provide grants and scholarships to benefit the health of the residents of Chatham County.
"We greatly appreciate the generosity of the Pittsboro Area Health Initiatives," said CCCC President, Dr. Bud Marchant. "Its support means a great deal to the college, to the students who are assisted by it, and to their communities. As students have graduated from our Continuing Education healthcare training programs, they have gone out and helped to improve the health of area residents."
Jones, Foundation and PAHI board member Perry Harrison, and CCCC-Chatham Medical Programs coordinator Cindy Smith attended the Foundation's Oct. 16 board meeting, where Foundation President Bill Milholen thanked the PAHI representatives for the organization's contributions to the community and their continued support of college programs.
"Over the years the board of directors has been privileged to provide grants to the Foundation," Todd Jackson, PAHI's current president, wrote in a letter to the Foundation. "The fine work you have done in the health service delivery system throughout the Pittsboro area is a testament to our mission of enhancing the health of people in this area."
The CCCC Foundation is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization affiliated with, but independent of, Central Carolina Community College.
