SANFORD - The Central Carolina Community College Cougars extended their current win streak to four games, racking up a 9-2 record after the first game back from the Thanksgiving holidays.

The Cougars blew out the Trojans of Mt. Olive College JV, 106-53, at the Dec. 3 game on the Cougars' home court.

Despite having four key players sitting out due to violations of team rules, the Cougars had a balanced scoring attack led by Josh Lee (Southern Lee) with 24, followed by Shawn McGee (Enloe) and Jenaro Harris (Cox Mill) with 14 points each, Billy Brunson (Hoke) with 12, Julian Bailey (Cape Fear) with 11, and Odarius Mills (Chester, SC) with 10.

Lee, Brunson and Harris were hot from behind the arc and Bailey and V. Diamond Gibbs pulled down 12 rebounds each. Coach Doug Connor ran subs in every four minutes in teams of five to get the balance and to prepare the team for the tough game on Thursday when the Cougars host Southside Virginia Community College.

This was a true team victory with several players taking on new and expanded roles. Harris has moved to point from the shooting guard that has created a great backcourt combo with Lee.

Shawn McGee has become the primary backup at guard, and Gibbs has nailed down the center position with his ever-improving post play. Harris leads the team in assists and 3 point percentage, Lee continues to lead all Cougars in scoring, and Bailey leads the Tarheel Conference in rebounding.

The Cougars last home game before the semester break is 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 5. A win will mark the first time a Cougar team has won 10 games in the first half of the season. The team will play three more games away before the break at Western Virginia and the Wake Tech Christmas Classic.
