LILLINGTON - Central Carolina Community College's Continuing Education program offers non-degree, short-term training opportunities to assist students in gaining entry into the workforce, or to assist with changing career paths. Classes focus on non-degree, fee-based training programs in a variety of career fields. Courses often lead to state licensure, or a certificate upon completion, and provide continuing education units for those looking to enter the job market quickly. Additionally, they offer personal interest courses that help enhance your life and offer the opportunity to explore new interests.
Open enrollment opportunities currently available include:
Alive at 25: Whether you've received a ticket, or just want to be a safer driver, you can learn defensive driving techniques. Designed for persons under 24 years of age, this course may minimize or prevent the assessment of insurance points or premium surcharges on insurance policies and/or driver license. To register, bring your current driver license, citation number, violation type, and court date. These four-hour courses are offered ongoing and cost $60 per person.
Defensive Driving: Defensive driving classes may minimize or prevent the assessment of insurance points or premium surcharges on insurance policies and/or driver license. To register, bring your current driver license, citation number, violation type, and court date. These four-hour courses are offered ongoing and cost $60 per person (ages 25 years of age and above).
Escort Vehicle Certification: This course is designed to meet the training requirements set by the N.C. Department of Transportation to certify oversize-overweight load escort vehicle drivers. Course components consist of defensive driving, escort driver requirements, skills training, and an exam. This eight-hour course (Saturday, March 24, 8 a.m.- 5 p.m.) is for new and renewing certifications and costs $70.55 per person. Students must bring a current driver license and a certified driving record to the class. Register no later than March 22.
Introduction to Web Coding: Employing good coding principles is essential in an effective website. Learn the basics of HTML5 and CSS3 coding languages, and understand the role of web technologies in website design. During this course, you will also be introduced to basic image manipulation for website graphics.
SHRM-CP/SCP Exam Preparation: Offered in partnership with the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), this course is designed by global subject matter experts and covers the entire SHRM Body of Competency & Knowledge. This course and study group utilizes the SHRM Learning System to help you learn and retain the material effectively and efficiently by combining the exam preparation system with peer discussion.
Wastewater Operator I/II Training: This course provides a general knowledge of the operation of wastewater treatment systems. In addition to related laws and regulations, students will learn about the equipment used in plants and general maintenance requirements. This course prepares students for the N.C. Water Pollution Control System Operators Certification Commission Examination.
