LILLINGTON - Central Carolina Community College Continuing Education offers non-degree, short-term training opportunities to assist students in gaining entry into the workforce, or to assist with changing career paths. Classes focus on non-degree, fee-based training programs in a variety of career fields. Courses often lead to state licensure, or a certificate upon completion, and provide continuing education units for those looking to enter the job market quickly.

Open enrollment opportunities currently available, in Harnett County, include:

Escort Vehicle Certification- This course is designed to meet the training requirements set by the NC Department of Transportation to certify Oversize-Overweight load escort vehicle drivers. Course components consist of defensive driving, escort driver requirements, skills training, and an exam. This eight-hour course (Saturday, March 2, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.) is for new and renewing certifications and costs $70.55 per person. Students must bring a current Driver License and a certified driving record to the class. Register no later than Feb. 27.

OSHA 30-hour Construction- Certification is targeted for team leaders with responsibility for personnel safety, safe operations, and OSHA standards compliance. Instruction emphasizes hazard identification, control and prevention, and avoidance. Topics include the Focus Four Hazards, excavations, scaffolds, tools, PIVs, steel erection, stairways and ladders, concrete and masonry construction, confined space entry, and more. This course begins March 18 and costs $125.55 per person.

OSHA 30-hour General Industry- Certification is targeted for team leaders with responsibility for personnel safety, safe operations, and OSHA standards compliance. Instruction emphasizes hazard identification, control and prevention, and avoidance. Topics include hazardous materials, confined spaces, lockout/tagout, bloodborne pathogens, machine guarding, fall protection, ergonomics, safety and health programs, industrial hygiene, and more. This course begins Jan. 28 and costs $125.55 per person.

SHRM-CP/SCP Certification Preparation- Offered in partnership with the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), this course is designed by global subject matter experts and covers the SHRM Body of Competency & Knowledge. This course utilizes the SHRM Learning System to help you learn and retain the material effectively and efficiently by combining the exam preparation system with peer discussion. This course begins Feb. 6 and costs $995 per person.

SHRM Essentials of Human Resources- This course provides the foundational knowledge necessary to help your organization reduce costs, avoid potential lawsuits, and improve your ability to handle challenging HR issues. This program is ideal for an entry-level HR professional or someone in a non-HR role who may be responsible for those duties. This course begins March 7 and costs $475 per person.

Wastewater Operator II Training- This course (held in Sanford) provides a general knowledge of the operation of wastewater treatment systems. In addition to related laws and regulations, students will learn about the about general mechanical and maintenance requirements, activated sludge, solids disposal, and lab procedures. This course prepares students for the NC Water Pollution Control System Operators Certification Commission Examination. This course begins Jan. 22 and costs $125.55 per person. Prerequisite: Wastewater Operator I.
