SANFORD - Marcel Webster has been named head women's basketball coach at Central Carolina Community College.

Coach Webster has been serving as assistant women's basketball coach at Wake Technical Community College. He has served in various other coaching capacities, including head women's basketball coach at Barber-Scotia College.

"I'm really excited to be here," said Coach Webster. "We are looking to be very competitive. We're looking to do something great here. We're looking to have fun - making it exciting."

Coach Webster seeks to have a running team - and a good defensive team. "I believe defense wins games," said Coach Webster, "and rebounding wins games."

CCCC Athletic Director Jonathan Hockaday said that CCCC is excited to have Coach Webster join the athletic program. "His experience in coaching and recruiting make him a perfect fit for our women's basketball program," said Hockaday. "We are looking forward to watching him lead our women's basketball team to new heights."

Coach Webster will be recruiting this year, with CCCC women's basketball to return in the 2020-21 school year.
