LILLINGTON - Central Carolina Community College Continuing Education offers non-degree, short-term training opportunities to assist students in gaining entry into the workforce, or to assist with changing career paths. Classes focus on non-degree, fee-based training programs in a variety of career fields. Courses often lead to state licensure, or a certificate upon completion, and provide continuing education units for those looking to enter the job market quickly. Additionally, there are personal interest courses that help enhance one's life and offer the opportunity to explore new interests.
Governor's Education Emergency Relief (GEER) Scholarship funds are available for high-demand workforce training programs leading to a state or industry-recognized credential. Details and application are available at www.cccc.edu/ecd/scholarships/.
Open enrollment opportunities currently available include:
Basic Hydraulics - This course provides a thorough explanation of hydraulic principles and the various components that make up a complete system. Students will learn about varied hydraulic cylinders and motors, component functionalities, and when to use the various types of O-rings and seals when replacing worn or damaged ones. Hands-on instruction includes proper disassembly and reassembly of components. A textbook is required. This course begins Aug. 17 and costs $71.60 per person.
Build Your Leadership Skills (online) - Discover leadership strategies and learn how to motivate a team in this course that combines all the right topics in just one class. Topics include communication strategies, conflict resolution, emotional intelligence, employee motivation, generational gaps, supervision and more. This class is perfect for up and coming or current business leaders who want to lead and influence their team toward success. This synchronous online course begins Aug. 17 and costs $71.60 per person.
Emotional Intelligence 2.0 (online) - Learn how emotional intelligence can enhance interpersonal relationships in the workplace. Improve mindfulness for a healthier state of "being" while at work, and improve self-awareness to understand more about yourself and how you engage with others. This synchronous online course begins Nov. 9 and costs $71.60 per person.
Escort Vehicle Operator - This course is designed to meet the training requirements set by the NC Department of Transportation to certify oversize-overweight load escort vehicle drivers. Course components consist of defensive driving, escort driver requirements, skills training and an exam. Students must bring a current NC Driver License, DDC-4 certification, and a certified driving record to the class. This course begins Aug. 21 and costs $71.60 per person.
Industrial Electrical Blueprint Reading - This course provides a thorough explanation of how electrical blueprints are structured for industrial-related functions, as well as teaches symbol interpretation and application to electrical drawings. Students will learn hands-on applications providing real-world results by constructing circuity to control input/output devices that ultimately render desired machinery-electrically controlled outputs. A textbook is required. This course begins Nov. 9 and costs $71.60 per person.
OSHA 10-Hour General Industry - This course provides the basic guidelines and a safety overview of the OSHA 10-Hour General Industry module. Students will receive a variety of training on general industry safety and health requirements. Upon successful completion of the course, students will receive an OSHA 10-Hour General Industry Outreach DOL course completion card. An $8 OSHA card fee (cash) will be collected by the instructor. This course begins Dec. 6 and costs $71.60 per person.
OSHA 30-Hour Construction - Certification is targeted for team leaders with responsibility for personnel safety, safe operations, and OSHA standards compliance. Instruction emphasizes hazard identification, control and prevention, and avoidance. Topics include the Focus Four Hazards, excavations, scaffolds, tools, PIVs steel erection, stairways and ladders, concrete and masonry construction, confined space entry, and more. An $8 OSHA card fee (cash) will be collected by the instructor. This course begins Sept. 20 and costs $126.60 per person.
Physical/Chemical Operator II (online) - This course provides general knowledge of the operation of physical/chemical wastewater treatment systems. Focusing on the Grade II Needs to Know manual, students will learn about chemical treatment processes, Chlorination/Dechlorination and Ultraviolet Disinfection, pH Adjustment/Neutralization, Industrial Waste Treatment, Reverse Osmosis, etc. This course prepares students for the NC Department of Environmental Quality Certification Examination for Physical/Chemical Grade II. Textbooks required. This synchronous online course begins Nov. 1 and costs $71.60 per person.
Wastewater Lab Analyst II Exam Prep (online) - This course assists students in preparing for the Wastewater Laboratory Analysis Class II written examination, administered by the American Water Works Association (NC AWWA) and The North Carolina Member Association of the Water Environment Federation (NC WEA). As defined by the NC Certification Board, persons must have three years (regardless of education) wastewater laboratory experience to sit for the exam. This synchronous online course begins Sept. 13 and costs $71.60 per person.
Wastewater Operator I (online) - This course provides a general knowledge of the operation of wastewater treatment systems. In addition to related laws and regulations, students will learn about the equipment used in plants, and lab and sampling procedures. This course prepares students for the NC Water Pollution Control System Operators Certification Commission Examination. This synchronous online course begins Aug. 16 and costs $126.60 per person. Textbooks required.
Wastewater Operator II - This course provides a general knowledge of the operation of wastewater treatment systems. In addition to related laws and regulations, students will learn about general mechanical and maintenance requirements, activated sludge, solids disposal, and lab procedures. This course prepares students for the NC Water Pollution Control System Operators Certification Commission Examination. This synchronous online course begins Aug. 30 and costs $126.60 per person. A textbook is required. Prerequisite: Wastewater Operator I.
Wastewater Operator III (online) - This course provides a general knowledge of the operation of wastewater treatment systems. Students will learn about general mechanical and maintenance requirements, activated sludge, solids disposal, and lab procedures. This course prepares students for the NC Water Pollution Control System Operators Certification Commission Examination. This synchronous online course begins Sept. 27 and costs $126.60 per person. Textbooks required. Prerequisite: Wastewater Operator II.
Wastewater Operator IV (online) - This course provides a general knowledge of the operation of wastewater treatment systems. Students will learn about general mechanical and maintenance requirements, activated sludge, solids disposal, and lab procedures. This course prepares students for the NC Water Pollution Control System Operators Certification Commission Examination. This synchronous online course begins Sept. 28 and costs $126.60 per person. Textbooks required. Prerequisite: Wastewater Operator III, and a working knowledge of algebra and geometry.
Welding MIG I - This course is designed to teach the practical operation in the use of the Gas Metal Arc Welding process. The course covers power sources, operation, shielding gases, and safe practices. Safety equipment is required. This course begins Aug. 16 and costs $181.60 per person. Metal fee: $80
Workplace Networking (online) - Networking in the workplace is important. To do so, and demonstrate healthy interpersonal skills, you must apply effective communication and active listening skills. Learn to demonstrate a positive mindset to show that you are solutions-focused rather than problem-oriented, and confident in your job performance and the potential for additional responsibilities. This synchronous online course begins Oct. 12 and costs $71.60 per person.
