SANFORD, N.C. - Twenty-two individuals are among the most recent graduates of the Central Carolina Community College Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) program.
The graduates are Zachary Scott Baker, Samuel Christian Barrow, Jeffrey Lawrence Bopp, Gavin Lee Bruce, Leonardo Hiram Castellanos, Elijah Jose De La O Clausen, Taylor Patrick Deubler, Cameron Scott Franks, Joseph Michael Fuerch, Kevin Joseph Greenwood, Haley Ann Hall, Morgan Amy Halkyer, Kevin Alejandro Herrera Hernandez, Matthew Wayne Jones, Kyle Joseph Kothsein, Michael Justin Mitchell II, Anthony Deshaun Moore, Luis Miguel Rodriguez, Amber Elizabeth Schmidt, Caroline Noel Snyder, Codi Mica Stroup, and Enoc Esau Velazquez.
A ceremony to honor the graduates was held May 29 at the Dennis A. Wicker Civic & Conference Center in Sanford.
Guest speaker was Travis Daggett of the Harnett County Sheriff's Office. Tracy Painter Kelly, CCCC BLET Program Director, Public Services, awarded graduation certification. Class response was by Joseph Fuerch. Presentation of Colors was by the Chatham County Honor Guard.
Several of the graduates were recognized for outstanding achievement during their training. They were: Fastest Police Officers Physical Abilities Test (POPAT) - Chase/ Apprehension - Kyle Kothstein; Fastest Police Officers Physical Abilities Test (POPAT) - Rescue - Kyle Kothstein; Jimmy Collins Top Gun Award - Kyle Kothstein; Highest Class Average - Samuel Barrow; and Highest State Exam - Leonardo Castellanos and Kyle Kothstein.
Class sponsors were the Allied Universal Company Police, Cary Police Department, Chatham County Sheriff's Office, Lee County Sheriff's Office, North Carolina State Parks, and Pittsboro Police Department.
