SANFORD - Ready to put in fall vegetables or want to learn how to grow them?
Learn how to grow fall vegetables, and grow them better, in free Fall Vegetable Production classes at Central Carolina Community College’s West Harnett Center. An N.C. Tobacco Trust Fund Project Skill-UP Grant funds the classes, so the textbook is also free.
Classes are available in two time slots: 4 p.m.-7 p.m. Tuesdays, Sept. 15-Nov. 17, and 1 p.m.-4 p.m. Wednesdays, Sept. 16-Nov. 18. All classes will be held at the Center in the Western Harnett Industrial Park, 145 Olive Farm Drive, off Highway 87 south of Sanford.
The classes will cover topics such as weed management, insect and disease prevention, cover crops, and crop rotation. Those who might miss one or two classes are still welcome. For more information, call the Center at (919) 498-1210, or instructor Rob VanderVoort, at ext. 1004.
