SANFORD - The Central Carolina Community College Foundation welcomed five new community leaders onto its board of directors at its July 19 quarterly meeting at the Dennis A. Wicker Civic Center.
"We are very honored to have these members join the board," said Bill Milholen, board president. "They bring with them energy and enthusiasm for Central Carolina Community College and support its mission to provide exceptional education to its service areas. All five will be great ambassadors for the college and the Foundation, spreading word in their local communities of the good work that is coming from CCCC."
The new members represent the three counties in the college's service area: Chatham, Harnett and Lee. Joining the board were Mark Eason, of Dunn, Margaret de St. Aubin, of Siler City, Donna "Lou" Byrd, of Pittsboro, Travis Bailey, of Angier, and Charlie Welborn, of Sanford.
Eason is the city executive at New Century Bank, in Dunn. De St. Aubin is the vice president at Wren Industries, Wren Foundation, and president of the NC Travel Agency. Byrd owns Interim Healthcare, and Bailey is the senior vice president at First Bank, in Lillington. Welborn is a managing partner at Davenport, Marvin, Joyce & Co. CPA's, in Sanford.
"We have a strong and community-minded board of directors." said Diane Glover, CCCC Foundation executive director. "All 33 members are active community leaders and understand the important role CCCC plays in economic development throughout its service area."
The CCCC Foundation is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization affiliated with, but independent of, the college. It aids in providing funding for special needs and projects of the college that are not provided through state appropriations, but which are vital to the overall "Pursuit of Excellence" for the college.
