PITTSBORO - Collective Impact is the theme for the upcoming Chatham LIVE (Lead, Inspire, Volunteer, and Empower) workshop that will be held Wednesday, March 16, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. at the Chatham County Library in Pittsboro.

Central Carolina Community College, Chatham County, the Chatham Chamber of Commerce, the United Way of Chatham County, and the Triangle Community Foundation are workshop sponsors.

The opening session and luncheon will include remarks by Robert Albright, Associate Director, Collective Impact Forum, who facilitates a nationwide philanthropic funder network for the Collective Impact Forum and the Aspen Institute Forum for Community Solutions. He has led various workshops and spoken at local, regional, and national convenings on the topic of cross-sector collaboration.

The workshop includes two sessions.

Session 1: Engaging the Community for Collective Impact (Speakers - Robert Albright and Dr. Pamela Senegal) - Collective impact efforts are often discussed in terms of organizations or sectors, such as business, nonprofit, government, and philanthropy - leaving out the discussion of the community itself. This workshop will focus on why it is important to involve the community actively, how it can be done within a collective impact initiative, and the challenges and pitfalls of engaging the community.

Session 2: Leading for Collective Impact (Speakers - Mark Molitor and Debby Warren) - Collective impact requires leaders who understand the greater system of which we are a part. It also requires building a culture of collaboration and means fostering a different, deeper type of dialogue that leads to greater clarity and innovation. System leaders play an important role in shifting the focus from reactive problem solving to co-creating the future. This workshop will explain these concepts, provide examples, and engage participants in learning exercises.
